Our story
Rooted in a Kolkata lane
We started with a single kettle and a simple idea: make the everyday cup of chai with care, and serve it in a way that respects the city's old habits.

Tea room · Kolkata
Mitti & Leaf is a small neighbourhood tea room. We brew chai over a low flame, serve it in clay kulhars and fry our snacks to order.
Why people stop by
We keep the menu short so every cup gets attention. Leaves come from tea gardens in North Bengal, milk comes in fresh each morning, and the kulhars are made by potters in the city.

Chai served in unglazed clay cups. The clay adds a faint earthy note, and each cup is used once.

Singara, chop and jhal muri, made in small batches through the day so nothing sits waiting.

Wooden benches, ceiling fans and no rush. Stay for one cup or three.
From the counter

Our everyday cup: strong, sweet milk tea poured into a fresh clay kulhar.

Assam leaves simmered with milk, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise.

Light black tea with lemon, a pinch of black salt and roasted cumin. Served without milk.

“Good tea asks for three things: fresh leaves, patient hands and someone to share it with.”
