Milk tea being poured from a steel pot into small clay kulhar cups

Tea room · Kolkata

Tea poured slowly, in cups made of earth.

Mitti & Leaf is a small neighbourhood tea room. We brew chai over a low flame, serve it in clay kulhars and fry our snacks to order.

  • Masala chai
  • Lebu cha
  • Darjeeling
  • Ginger tulsi
  • Singara
  • Jalebi
  • Mishti doi

Why people stop by

A cup of chai should feel like a pause, not a purchase.

We keep the menu short so every cup gets attention. Leaves come from tea gardens in North Bengal, milk comes in fresh each morning, and the kulhars are made by potters in the city.

Singara, chop and jhal muri, made in small batches through the day so nothing sits waiting.

Our story

Rooted in a Kolkata lane

We started with a single kettle and a simple idea: make the everyday cup of chai with care, and serve it in a way that respects the city's old habits.
